ABOUT
THE SEAL |
|
|
| |
The
ATO Seal symbolizes the
replica of the Maltese Cross, the belief
of Christian faith. The three equal arms
of the seal are inscribed the Greek letters
of Alpha Tau Omega. In
the lower portion of the arm is the inscription
of the founding year 1968 in the Philippines.
The Four Races at the corners of the cross
are the Four Regions of the world; the
North, the South, the East and the West.
The Circle at the center of the cross
represents the endless existence of Alpha
Tau Omega; inscribed in it are
the ancient lamp and the book. The ancient
lamp signifies the guiding light and the
closed book symbolizes secrecy and mysticism
of the fraternity. Beneath the book are
the Six Stars and the Handshake. The
Six Stars embodies the Six Founders
of ATO-Philippines and
the Handshake epitomizes strong bond of
unity and brotherhood. |

Alpha
Tau Omega
are biblical letters narrated by the early
Christians. ATO is an ancient insignia
of the church. Neither a group nor an
individual can claim a monopoly of the
use of Greek letters or alphabet except
the Greeks themselves because these are
their inherent rights.
ATO-Philippines
maintain its international status in view
of the affiliations of ATO-Taiwan and
ATO-Thailand. Such fraternal ties are
based on mutual respect and independence.
ATO-Philippines is not a conservative
fraternity, we encourage existing ATO
in another country to affiliate with us
without monetary considerations. |
